You can do hard things...but this isn't one of them

My life changed on April 30, 2020 on a chilly, rainy afternoon when our family hopped in the truck, drove 5 minutes up the street and I got to cast my first fly line into the river. Also that day I called my rod, a pole my fly, a lure and asked where my bobber was on the "clear part of the line". I got stuck in a tree, our son was crying (which was a first for our outdoor family) my husband gave me a few pointers on casting and after 3 minutes I wanted to stay for hours in the pouring rain and figure this whole thing out!

My family is just about 2 months into quarantine; I have been furloughed from my job, our toddler has no school and to set the record straight immediately; I love my child more than life itself but I am NOT stay-at-home-Mom material! In those few minutes of casting, learning from my husband (who admittedly is not a fly fisherman, but has done it and enjoys it) I couldn't stop thinking about all the things I didn't know and want to eagerly learn. It may be scary for some to learn and try something new and in all honesty I have never had this fear, it's excitement for me; and holy shit was I excited!! So i hit the internet, primarily Instagram because as a visual learner I knew I'd get the most out of it; and it was a great place to start.
Instagram Tips:
Start by searching for obvious, popular hashtags #flyfishing #flyfishinglife #flyfishnh (or whatever tour state is) #womenwhoflyfish. Then you'll find accounts you want to follow like @orvisflyfishing @patagonia_flyfish @theflyfishingnation @sageflyfish @facelessflyfishing. Once you start exploring the hashtags and accounts you like you should explore your local shops and local anglers @mountainhighfly @whitemountainanglers. You can learn so much here but for me it was just important to have fun and being a visual learner this was the best way to begin.

After the fire inside me was lit, it was time to feed it!
